    Greettings,

Can someone point me to the group policy editor on how to remove Internet Explorer from Windows XP Pro Client.

We are running a W2K3 Server with WinXP Pro Clients and wish to remove the privelege of Internet Explorer.

    Can this be done?

In short, no. IE is firmly embedded into XP. In theory, I suppose you can do a manual removal, but it would involve complicated registry hacks. Is it possible to disable access by user to it or to refuse IE online permission? JMO, that would be more practical than trying to remove it from the OS.

I found a way to disallow specific applications in gpedit.msc. BUT.... I am at home right now and on XP Home version or I would tell you exactly how. If you can find this setting, enable it and add iexplore.exe to the list. Look under the User Configuration settings.

The following is a more drastic step, but I found that it works wonderfully: http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,4149,1095256,00.asp
    Good luck!

By the way, you can eliminate all access to IE and anything else you want by changing the gpedit settings. Just be careful that you do not lock YOURSELF out as well. Be sure you are logged in as whatever user you want to restrict, NOT as admin.
