I have long been a user of Tweak XP Pro and in their later builds of the program it created desktop shortcuts to Restart, Shut Down and Log Off.

I have just upgraded to their latest version 3.0 and the program no longer features these shortcuts.

Is there any way that I can create my own desktop shortcuts to Shutdown and Restart?

    Thanks So Much

Create a shortcut to shutdown.exe in the System32 folder. Add the -r switch for restart.

So the target box should read something like this:

    C:\WINDOWS\system32\shutdown.exe -r

    Other switches, FYI:

No args Display this message (same as -?)
-i Display GUI interface, must be the first option
-l Log off (cannot be used with -m option)
    -s Shutdown the computer
-r Shutdown and restart the computer
    -a Abort a system shutdown
    -m \\computername Remote computer to shutdown/restart/abort
-t xx Set timeout for shutdown to xx seconds
-c "comment" Shutdown comment (maximum of 127 characters)
-f Forces running applications to close without warning
-d [p]:xx:yy The reason code for the shutdown
    u is the user code
p is a planned shutdown code
xx is the major reason code (positive integer less than 256)
yy is the minor reason code (positive integer less than 65536)

Thanks so much for your input and it sure fixed the situation.

Boy is sure didn't take me long to also add the -t switch on the Restart command.

I have saved all the commands to a text file for furure refrence.

    Thanks so much again.

    :)
