In windows xp, I can't seem to make the file order I want -- alphabetical -- to stick. Every time I bring up my E drive, I have to click on "details," then right click and remove the checks on the top three file order requests and finally I get alphabetical. I would like the drive to always come up in alphabetical order. How can I do this?

I'm not following you on this

Where are you clicking on 'details'? View > Details ? - that gives you no further options. Right clicking on 'details' does nothing!

Are you running the XP standard scheme or Classic Windows (as I am) - I'll check this out on my other PC which is set up for the XP desktop

One suggestion for the moment - set up the view of E drive as you want it Go to Tools > Folder Options > View and select 'Apply to all Folders'

I'm assuming for the moment that all this is available on the XP theme. Does this happen only on E drive ??

Sorry. This is XP, classic windows. you click on details, and then you get a sort of bar that you right click on. This gives you a drop down menu that has the various file order choices. I'll try what you said and see what happens. And thanks.
