I have a systemax pc and it runs XP. I scanned some photos and clicked on the option to copy to cd. It puts the files in the burn folder but then I get a message that it was unable to burn the cd. I called tech support and he said to use Nero to burn cds because thats normal problem in XP. Yes I can burn the cd in Nero but Why won't it burn from the my pictures folder. Same if I download a program and tell it to save to my cd drive..again I have to go to Nero to burn the cd. I have no problem burning CDs from musicmatch. But I get the same results when I try to burn or format adisk in Easy CD creator 5 Platinum..any help would be appreciated.

    Direct CD

WOW! It's hard to tell why your unit does not record what you want. Mine works OK. I am running XP home edition and I put my direct cd in my send to folder, and all I do is put in a blank cd and then right click on the pic or whatever and [send to direct cd.] If you have not checked out the help for the cd, I think you should as there is a lot of info there. The tech did not want to fool around with it, and should not have told you to use Nero. The direct is about the best and simplest of them all to me. This may help you some. I hope so. BOB

    CD Burning

HI: On my last reply, I left out another way that should work for you. If you put a blank cd in you RW, when you right click on the pics or the folder the recorder should come up for you and then you take the route you want to go. Good Luck, BOB

I finally got to try robyoung's solution and that worked. also, I downloaded the updates for CD burners at MS and the copy to cd worked as well. so at this point in time my problem seems resolved. Many, many thanks robyoung.
