Saving in .BMP

I'm currently running Windows XP Professional, and I've noticed that I'm unable to save images from the internet correctly now..

I never used to have this problem, I'm guessing somethings changed in one of the updates that has been installed, but I would have no cllue which one or when this happened..

Anyway any time I goto a website or something and try to save a image, I right click and go save image as, It opens a box showing my pictures in my C drive so thats all fine, but the only format I'm able to save any image as in .BMP and thats a big pain especially when trying to save animated images which need to be .GIF

I need to try and fix this, its really frustrating and I have no idea what to do so I'm hoping theres someone out there that can give me a hand? Please help me if you can..

Thank you!
Mabby

Check out the information in Microsoft Knowledge Base article 260650.

Don't let the title mislead you, it deals with other causes, the most common of which is the first one listed: "This issue may occur if your Temporary Internet pages cache is full."

Hi im not an expert but if you are using AOL as your ISP then you`ll have to go to:-

customise/preferences/internet properties/

then click the "web graphics" tab

then select " never compress graphics "

Hope this is of use to you if your on AOL, i had the same problem.
