windows explorer - its weird memory

a)Every single time I open windows explorer to view folders, it auto opens MY DOCUMENTS and all sub folders. (listed in explorer under MY DESKTOP)I want it to auto open "C:\" Drive and subfolders. I tried going into TOOLS/FOlder Options/View/and choose APPLY TO ALL FOLDERS- close out of explorer, return and again it keeps opening MY DOCUMENTS (I then have to waste time collapsing MY DOCS, then opening MY COMPUTER + to then open C-Drive+ and see subfolders!
b)I have windows explorer opened to see zip drive/folders. I put in a zip disc and finished going into folders in one zip disc, remove and install new zip..it does not show new zip discs in same explorer window..I try clicking to make it see them and it doesn't..I have to close this explorer window and reopen a new one before it sees new folders in new zip disc. (NOTE: I just retried and it shows new folders on right side of explorer, but old listing of folders is still on left side..try clicking right side to make them showup on left so can see sub folders on right..and it keeps old folders on left and then shows up new folder..how can I make it auto-remove old listing and only show new folders?)
I never had either of these probs with win98!
Anyone know any solutions?

friend's answer to a)

Sorry everyone..just got GREAT answer to part a) above, how to make explorer open in "C" instead of MY DOCS, here was the answer that worked:
create a link to Windows Explorer, and
go to the Properties of that link. Change the target to:

%SystemRoot%\explorer.exe /e,c:\

(I wonder what the "/e,c:\" means ..must be some DOS language to make it happen ..oh well, I'm grateful!!

Part a:

No need to create link.
Just click START right click windows explorer and select properties and change the target to: %SystemRoot%\explorer.exe /e,c:\
click OK.

Gotta love the solution to part A. I've been looking for it for ages. It works for Win ME also except that the target would be:
C:\WINDOWS\EXPLORER.EXE /e,c:\

And I know that W2K has the same .. ahem .. feature. I'd bet the solution is the same.
