When my pc boots up the welcome screen will not go away.
I have XP Pro - SP1, its configured to automatically logon (not prompt for a password). It looks like the PC boots fine, but the welcome screen wont go away.

If I press CTRL-ALT-DEL then the desktop appears.

    any ideas??

    Thanks
    Jeff

    Try changing the security policy.

    Run:
    secpol.msc

    Navigate to:
    Security Settings>Local Policies>Security Options.

    Right-click:
Interactive Logon: Do not require CTRL+ALT+DEL
    Click Properties.

Enable the policy or leave it unconfigured if it is presently disabled.
