The icons in the quick launch area have text labels which will only allow one item to be displayed there. How do I get rid of the text labels so only icons are there.

Right click an open area of the Quick Launch Bar and uncheck "Show text." You may find this a little trick getting the proper right click menu but be patient, you'll eventually get it. It's all a matter of where you point. Try the area immediately at the beginning of the QL bar.
Ah yes. Thank you. You have to "Unlock the Taskbar" first then right click anywhere between the broken vertical lines without highlighting anything in the quick launch area. The expanded menu will pop right up.
