I am experiencing slow startups in windows XP on occassion.
My normal startup time is less than 1 minute, however for some reason the startup may slow down to take 3-4 minutes. I have very little loading on boot up and have already tried some of the things i have seen on this site. Sometimes defrag helps return to normal and sometimes not. I have tried cleaning out documents & settings folder and returned to normal startup times. But this time nothing seem to work. any suggestions appreciated.

try to restart in safe mode. when you boot normally then a device driver is the problem.
