I need to format an older laptop with XP in order to pass it on to some one. I don't have a XP Start Disk. I read the following on Google :

"Go to My Comuter > Drive C > look for a folder named 1386. Open it and look for a file called wnnt32.exe. This is the Windows installation file. It will wipe your computer of everything and reinstall Windows "

It seems too simple, that I find it hard to believe - would it work? has anyone ever tried it or have other ideas ?

    Appreciate assistance.

You probbaly meant I 386 folder...

Did you check to see if you have it?

But no, it won't work. Kind of hard to wipe a drive AND use the files on it.

You can Borrow a cd from anyone that has the same brand of laptop.
