I recently installed XP Pro on this computer and used Folder Options to get all folders to detail view, my favorite. Somewhere along the line of re-installing my applications, I lost the ability to apply to all folders. I setup a folder the way I want it, click on "apply to all folders," close the folder and then reopen it to find it has reverted to icons. Any ideas how I can fix this?

I'm comfortable with editing the Registry if required.

The long response here may help.

As DAD said: Thanks, I'll try that.

But I don't have this problem in my months old notebook which came with XP Pro?

I tried all the Registry edits in the other thread, but I still have the problem. I wish I had a way of comparing the appropriate sections of the registry between my notebook, which accepts the all folders selection, and this computer, which doesn't.

Back to square one. Any other ideas out there?
