I've been receiving strange popups from IE for the past several weeks that have been very unsettling. They are becoming more and more frequent. Today's msg. was in large, red, bold blinking letters that said: SPYWARE DETECTED. Spyware has been detected on your system. Your computer is running slower than usual cause of a malware. Then there was a FIX IT NOW button. (my note about the grammar in their last sentence: . . "than usual cause" instead of "than usual because "--that poor grammar alone is suspicious). With every differing popup that has occurred (over 15 of them), they always want me to click on something to download (drivers, IE8, etc., etc.) BTW, I have IE8!

On the URL line the first word always changes. Today it showed: cause - Windows Internet Explorer. Other times that first word has been: cotton - WIE, or bit - WIE, or country - WIE, or DriverUpdate - WIE, or competition - WIE. Usually shows : http://staticaustralianbrewingcompany.com/g?2 . . . The line ends with the 2 so I don't know if anything more characters follow it. I quickly click on the X at the top of the screen to get rid of the popup.

Do you know what's going on here? And how can I stop it? Should I be worried about this?

Clicking on the fix it now will install the malware probably.. Be safe and go to the malware forum on this fine website and post the exact information you typed and let Broni square you away.. I think he is outstanding

OK, I've posted this on the Malware forum as advised. Hopefully, I can figure out how to cancel this request on the XP forum.
