The computer is a Acer Laptop, Aspire 3000. I'm using Windows XP Home Edition. My problem is that I'm experiencing a 2 to 3 second time delay from the time I press a keyboard key until the letter appears on the screen. I do not have this problem when I operate in Safe Mode. Mal-Warebythes is not detecting any problems and AVG Spy Ware is not detecting any infections.

Can anyone advise me as to what I can try next?

Hi bizman1233, Have you had a look in Device Manager to see if you have anything showing in Keyboard?
You could try an Uninstall > Shut down and Re-Boot and see if Windows installs correctly.
Go to Laptop (Aspire) web site to see if later Drivers are available. Cheers Neil.

I might only add to go to Add or Remove Programs and check that there isn't any software installed for some previous keyboard (if you might have had another one in the past).

The 2 most common causes that I have seen for this issue on laptops are:
    bad keyboard drivers
    malware

First I'd go to Device Manager and uninstall the keyboard, then reboot & let Windows auto install it.

If no joy I'd start a new thread in the malware forum.

    Tony T.

When I go to the Device Manager to uninstall the keyboard,
I double click on the keyboard category then when I right click on the keyboard and receive an option to Uninstall. When I click on the Uninstall I receive an Warning that I'm about to uninstall this device from the system. When I click on OK the computer freezes up. I can unfreeze the computer by going thru the Windows Task Manager program. Hence, I can't unistall the keyboard as you suggested.

Just uninstall it & reboot. If comp freezes, you can reboot via Task Manager.

Laptops usually have a keyboard and touchpad manager, look in Add or Remove Programs. That might possibly be the problem. The most popular manager laptop manufacturers use is Synaptics. You can uninstall it, reboot, then test the keyboard, that will tell you if the manager is the problem. You can go to the Acer website and get the latest version for the laptop's model.
