Changing operating system

I have a laptop purchased in Italy. I want to change the operating system to english.
The laptop did not come with a cd but I have the exact same cd in an english version. Can I use this cd to re-install windwos vista home premium on this laptop?

I doubt it

Generally laptops come with Manufacturer Restore discs, not the common Windows Vista disc from MS

Yes you will need to either do a clean install (or Repair install) with an English Setup disc.
This disc can be purchased at your laptop manufacturer support website (at a very reduced price, since you already have the key)

It is quite common situation that computer manufactures are happy to help you with.
Also, when posting in future please supply some/any hardware information (ie the laptop manufacturer and make and model number)
This helps support post direct links (if required) to specific areas of downloads or support information (in this case: purchasing a new Restore/Recovery disc)

I hope that helps

The above links are not related to Vista
But changing Regional settings will not change the entire of Windows originally installed language anyway (only some things)

You need to Repair or clean install with the purchased original (English) Restore disc

Hiya
Sorry the laptop is an emachines E525 and the installed operating system is windows vista home primium OEMAct and it did not come with any restore disks.
But I have an original windows vista home premium english disc that came with one of my emachines desktop pc.I tried with a clean install but it comes up with invalid key entered.

The original installed OS was XP, according to your support page
Therefore the manufacturer will not help with an English Vista disc
You can still purchase Vista, but with Windows7 now available this may be a better option, depending upon if your specs allow Windows7 (as Emachines did not provide drivers for Vista anyway)

There is another option, and that is to go back to XP
As long as you still have the OEM Key affixed to your computer, you should be able to order the English Restore disc

EDIT
Wait, I think it did come out with Vista too. http://support.emachines.com/em/driver/nb/e525.html
You may still be able to get the disc through Emachines (actually you should be able to)
