Once again, I have to ask this profound question. When I open the lid on my laptop, it doesn't go right to my program(s) ... I have to click on "name" locked or switch user.

Can one point out how to sidestep this so I don't have to face that each time I flip open the lid on my computer .......... Thanks!

Thanks for the reply. For some reason, this is not doing the trick. I know there something in the Control Panel, but dog gone (or is that cat gone) if I can remember what it was or is. Is there someone else with the fix for this?

Are you referring to Control Panel/User Accounts? Do have two user accounts set up?

I am referring to Control Panel / User Accounts - but I cannot find anything in there to bypass this "name locked" or "switch user" page. There's a way to bypass this coming up when booting up the machine or after the laptop lid is opened. But even in User Accounts, I cannot find anything to do that.

I thought the "turn User Account on or off" would do the trick, but the only thing I see in there is "turn on user account control ..." but again nothing in there so I can stop this "name locked / switch user" page coming up.

LumberGumRubber:

There is a way to turn the User Account Control off but it would be vary dangerous to your laptop. Turning this off would make your Laptop prone to malware and all types of viruses. I would strongly advise against it.

My System

This feature does not prevent malware. It is for preventing unauthorized users from using your laptop.

Check in Power Options for what closing the lid does. Uncheck require a password on resume.

Agreed Whiskeyman - here's what I did. I haven't had UserAccounts on for a long spell now. I checked it - rebooted - noted the problem I was having was gone. I thus unchecked it - problem has resolved itself ----- somehow. Just how? I know not. But that it's gone is good - but I still would like to know why it disappeared.
