Windows Update won't update - runs forever, no results
Hello Again
I am running a Vista 32 system I recently built.
After building, I ran Windows update. (Vista disk was old).
I was able to install updates all the way to the latest Service Pack.
However, ever since then I cannot download any updates. The system just forever does a search for updates.
Another odd thing is that whenever I shutdown, startup, reboot it seems to want to finish installing previous updates. I suspect some updates did not install correctly.
Any advise?

You don't need to install all these Windows Updates and then SP1. Start by installing your original Vista, then download & install Vista SP1, then any additional updates from Windows Update.
Thanks to both of you for help.
I fixed it with your advise. Here is what I did.
1. Used System restore to go back prior to installing SP2. I think this is where problem started. I used a restore point actually a few days prior to SP2.
2. I used MS Fix it as advised above. Thank you! This seemed to clean up some messy failed update installs.
Anyway, the system works fine now!
Thanks again!
YES & have done so. I always install updates. Somehow SP2 installation got messed up. Maybe I was working on PC during update or something. Although MS says you can use PC while updates are being installed, I find that doing so can cause trouble. So, I install updates when I walk away for break or else overnight (like SP2).
