    Hi Everyone,
    Where to begin??
    Put very simply!
My AVG Virus protector told me it was not working?
I emaild AVG and all i got was an automatic reply of uninstall and reinstall with this link etc. So I did that but was told it didnt completely uninstall?
Emailed avg, again and got same email. Computer guy came around and he couldnt uninstall either. We downloaded again hoping to go overtop. Failed !
I had been previously downloading different things which downloaded ok but then i couldnt find them anywhere to install them ??? Hence I bought a new virus protector and installed that, Guess What / I cant find that !!!! Every download is diappearing? I had been using firefox so i uninstalled that! Guess what? I downloaded it again, but cant find that anywhere yet when i click on firefox it brings a box up with the downloads in it but you cant access any thing/HEEEELLLPPPP The compute guy has never seen this before? It is driving me crazy.
    Thanks
    Regards
    Shelley

    Welcome to WindowsBBS;)

Write down the name of the file you're downloading;)

Click on the Windows Start button and go to SEARCH->type in the name you wrote down and search for it...When you find the folder - odds are you'll find all the other files;)

    Hi,
Tried that, comes up nothing, no files. The computer guy tried to download a small file and saved on the desktop, it disappeared before it was finished. I downloaded into a folder and went back and the folder was empty.

Malware or Virus is a possibility, someone here from Malware and Virus Removal might take over and help you trough.
Do you have access to another PC where you can download from.

a few suggestions that I can add, just to start off is, have a look in "Netstat" to see if you have any rouge connections, go to Run, type cmd, then type netstat, if all clear then at least you know you are not on line line with some Russian spies
With your other PC you might want to download Malwarebytes and install it and let it run this will detect most malware you will find it at: www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php
By the time you have done this someone else might come in to give more advice.

if you have SP1 installed Netstat should already be installed on your computer.
As I stated: go to Run type cmd, then type netstat.
Somehow tho I don't think Malware or Virus is your problem, but no harm done to see what you are connected with.

Right click on this and choose "save target as ". A box should come up asking you where you want to put your download. You may find your other downloads there. By default, Vista puts them in your user profile under "downloads ". It's one of the folders in My Documents, along with "My Music ", "My Pictures" and so on.

That's a safe link to a .pdf from one of my sites.

    Hi,
No I had already looked there, no downloads anywhere.
The computer guy came and used his memory stick from work and when he downloaded a small file, it disappeared before it was finished. He looked everywhere also?
    Thanks anyway
