Good day to all. After I install Vista Service Pack 2 yesterday, more updates came - Windows Live Essentials is one of them. I haven't touched MSCONFIG for months so I do not know if this is a SP2 problem. Windows Live Messenger is so annoying to appear everytime I boot my Desktop Vista so I opened MSCONFIG. But to my surprise, it's either not valid or missing. Is there any way to retrieve back MSCONFIG to Vista SP2?

I'll re-check my newly updated laptop with no Live Essentials yet for MSCONFIG. I'll be back in a bit.

    Chris

    It doesn't open, or what?
    Check C:\Windows\System 32, if it's there.
If it's missing, no big deal. It's just a single file, which can be copied frome any other Vista computer.
I can send it to you, if needed.

I just checked my laptop which is not yet updated due to yesterday's update and it is there. Thanks for the tip and I copied the MSCONFIG from the laptop to my updated desktop. Thanks for the offer. I would need it if I dont have another Vista system.

Problem solved. But I wonder how it was deleted? Perhaps it was yesterday's update that caused it?

    I have no idea....computer mystery.
I have SP2, and today's updates installed, and msconfig is still there.
