Recently I bought a HP DV4 1305TX notebook install with the Digital Pesona Fingerprint reader..Everything was smooth until recently when I do my PC health check, they prompt me update the validity sensor..I do the update and to astonishment,my fingerprint reader was gone..I try to retrieve back the reader or software from the Digital Persona website but they don't have it,only update version..I even try to e-mail HP but they just can't be bothered replying back..up till now I can't use my fingerprint reader..these are what recently happen to my notebook..
1)When I on the notebook, there will be stating "'detecting fingerprint reader "' below the thumbprint icon..after few second,it show 'fingerprint reader not detected''
2)When I go to the Digital Persona program,I key in my password but it will show "'Fingerprint reader not connected.Pls connect it "'..
I'm running out of idea what to do,so if anyone who could kindly help me what to do..I do really need to use the fingerprint reader..Thanks:confused:

What shows in Control Panel > Devices for the FP reader?

If there is a listing for it, select it's properties, select the driver tab & click Roll Back Driver.

In Win7, mine shows as TouchChip Fingerprint Coprocessor under Biometric Devices.

Mine show only Validity Sensor (under Personal Identification Devices) in my Device Manager..I try to Roll Back Driver in the Validity Sensor but the words are in grey (I think can't possible roll back because it stated the This device is working properly).

    That is http://www.validityinc.com/

    Not Digital Persona http://www.digitalpersona.com/

Digital Persona is only the software, not the hardware, so it looks like the hardware (Validity Sensor) is detected properly.

Here is the Fingerprint driver from HP (for Vista).

This is DigitalPersona responding to your inquiry. We may be able to assist you. Please provide us with a phone number we can reach you at by sending it in an email to suggest@digitalpersona.com as it would be easier to discuss this via phone vs. email.

    Thank you.
