I bought a new laptop about 2 months ago and in the past 2 weeks Outlook 2007 just freezes for a min or two and then unfreezes. It's enough to drive one crazy and I've done everything i could think of to try to resolve it. All patches are applied, uninstalled/reinstalled, deleted profile. The .ost is only 800MB. Machine is running Vista. Has anyone come across this issue and a resolution?

anything. it freezes at all times. i'll be in the middle of writing an email and it just freezes for about 1-2 mins then comes back. i disabled all add-ins, reinstalled the app, deleted the ost and rebuilt the profile. nothing has resolved it.

How often is it checking for new mail? Wondering it is checking often and your Anti Virus app is choking it?

How many email accounts are set up?

Looks like it's scheduled to send/receive every 30 mins. I have only 1 email account. I have disabled all add-ins and it's still freezing. This is a major problem because I run an IT Consulting firm and not only is email my lifeline but if this issue comes up with my clients I need to be able to resolve it quickly.

An update on this outlook freezing issue: I noticed that it only happens when I'm actively typing in the body of an email. Bizarre!

Disable the email scanning in your antivirus program. If it's Snortin' Norton, kill it altogether. Same with McAfee :)

I always forget that... the advantage of having your email scanned on your own server instead of the desktop :)
