DVD Question Using Vista

I have Vista as an operating system.
I have been backing up files on a DVD-RW disk.
Is it possible to delete files on a DVD-RW disc?
Can I rename a DVD-RW disc?
I know I can reformat the disc and start over and I know that I can keep adding files to the disc as long as its not full. But I am not sure if I can delete files to make room for new files or just reformat the disc and start over.
Windows Explorer does not give me this option.

Hi Fredb38. Yes you should be able to delete the files on the CD-RW disk. You can also change the name of it if you wish. If you have to, you can format the disk and start over. I personally use USB flash drives to back up data and store programs on. They are much easier to use and you don't have to write the files to it every time. Also they are much larger in size as well. You can get a 4 GB USB flash drive for about 20 dollars now.

DVD Question Using Vista

I agree with you 100% about the flash drive.
I just can't figure out how to delete a file or change the disc name. I tried Windows Explorer and the option is not their. Delete nor rename is available to choose. That is what got me started to find out why.
Maybe its not available because it is a DVD disc.

My System

To change the DVD name -

Start\Computer\ select the drive you want to change.
Rt. click the drive and choose Properties, just below the tabs is a spot to enter the name.

To delete a file -
Open the DVD Rt. Click the file and choose Delete.

DVD Question Using Vista

Tried all that and it doesn't work.
I see the disc name under properties but it can not be changed. The option is just no their.
Also opened the disk, selected a file, Right clicked but delete is not available.

Well then if its not available then I guess you can't rename the disk or delete the data from the CD-RW disk. I don't know what else to recommend other than if you want to delete all the data from it then you could probably just format it. I personally have stopped using CD-RW and floppy disks to store data on many years ago and now use USB flash drives.
