Whenever I download any program, when I try to install it, (including Firefox, any game, etc) vista will tell me either:
    The file is corrupt
Windows could not verify the publisher
    Or some CRC error.

I completely reinstalled vista twice, and even after completely wiping my hard drive and reformatting, I'm still getting the same errors.

Running Vista x64 Ultimate with SP1.

Error examples (All redownloaded from different mirrors, including the respective publisher's site.
Error with Chrome: Download error. The downloaded file failed verification. Error code = 0x80040204
Error with Firefox: Extraction failed, File is corrupt.
Error with Winrar: Some installation files are corrupt. Please download a fresh copy and retry the installation.

    Check these settings

    Hi,
I suggest you check your internet settings
    Browser>tools>internet options>advanced tab
Check if signature checking is enabled on the browser and if it is programmed to not allow software to run without a valid signature.
    Some Questions:
    1.Which Browser r u using currently ?
    2.Elaborate on the error code?

When I go to the tab, "Check for signatures on downloaded programs" is checked.

The error simply shows up when chrome tries to autorun from its site.

Using internet explorer, can't install any other browser.

Edit: Unchecked the "Check for signatures on downloaded programs" tab, still same error in chrome.
Even when saving the setup to disc and running from there. I am on the administrator account.

I said I already did, it didn't work either. No programs are able to install.

    I ran sfc /scannow
And it said "Windows Resource protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them. "
