    Hi
My wife has Vista, and quite often her work is interrupted by an update. Everything closes down, and she gets a message saying "Configuring Updates - do not switch off your computer" Then after 5-10 minutes it restarts and she has to log in again. Its really very annoying. It would be much better if she was given the option of choosing when to do these updates. Can anything be done about this?

Don't know about Vista( I run XP SP3). But worth checking. Go to Control Panel, Automatic Updates, click to open. XP has box with options to choose.

Control Panel > Windows Security Centre > Automatic Updating - click on the down arrow > Change Settings.
