Getting incorrect message from Network icon on lower right of desktop?

When I put the cursor over the network icon in the lower right of the tool bar it gives me the message that I am not currently connected any network, but the icon is flashing and I am connected to the internet. Is there a way to refresh this icon? Thanks.

My System

See if this helps; open Network and Sharing Center. Make sure your network is set to private and Network Discovery is set to custom (turn off all the sharing in the drop down menu)

Thanks, My network is private, will check the Network discovery, and I do have some sharing in the drop down menu, which I will change if the problem re-occurs. I re-booted and it now shows that I am connected. I googled the problem and found that a lot of people seem to have this problem, but no sure answers, other than restoring, etc.

Do you have SP1?

After installing SP1, try remaking the settings (reset them to other settings, restart, then set them back again).

I have changed settings since SP1 and they seem to be what I originally wanted.

Mattman,

Thanks for the response. I do have SP1, but have been having it, and this problem just started to occur. I will do as you suggested, when it happens again and see if it resolves the problem.
