    Hi,

I need help deciding if I should install this update or not. I do not know what MS Data Access Components are. As far as I know I never have used anything like that or is it something that is hidden in Vista itself?

I would appreciate any help. TIA

I forgot about KB951618 with which I have the same problem. It has to do with Saming OneKey Recovery software and as far as I know, I don't have that installed unless it comes with Vista. Thanks to all.

Hey Ann. Even though you don't have the software that the updates address there is no harm in installing the updates. The KB951618 update has been sent to all of the computer running Vista and XP. I have had no problems installing the Saming Onekey Recovery Software driver update. It is only meant to fix an incompatibility issue with the software if its installed. If you don't have that software installed then the update doesn't really serve any purpose. If those updates are being offered and you don't want to install them, then right click the update and select Hide update; which will stop the update from being offered to be installed on your computer.

    Thanks Evan -

I guess I like to be sure a specific update isn't going to cause problems.

I did not get KB951618 on my XP machine, only on the Vista laptop.

I also have a history of receiving updates that I know are not for my machine, so I like to be extra careful.

    Your input is appreciated.
