    Hi,

    This is a problem which I have seen discussed in the past, but never resolved. Maybe by now someone has a solution.

    I am running a Toshiba laptop, Vista Business, updated, drivers updated, stable (well relatively).

    After a game crashed, the system runs up on the native 1680x1050 and during loading the final desktop icons reverts to the game resolution of 1440x900.

    I manually set everything back to normal and restart or power down or log off and every time this machine comes back with the same thing: starts on 1680 and after 20 seconds blinks and goes to 1440.

    I searched all things on my system I know of and also all forums I know of without any solution. :eek:

    Any ideas?????

    Thanks

    //AndyB

    My guess, and it is just that :), would be that there is a registry key which got corrupted when the game crashed and the computer believes that the game is loading/running or is loading the game presets.

    I would uninstall the game and search the registry of all references to it - back up the registry first :), delete them and see what transpires.

    Regseeker (freeware) or jv16PowerTools (preferred - 30 day uncrippled trial)

    Hi,

    Thanks for your help.

    I can see that we both are logic thinkers as what you described was my 2nd or 3rd step. I actually own a jv16 license and scanned everything to no avail. I went and manually went through the registry and found zillions of 1440's - but not the one I wanted.

    What is left is the scan for remnants of the game in registry, which I haven't done.... Tiresome.....:mad:

    I have no idea where else to look. Any other creative ideas?

    Your help is really appreciated.

    Yes - I worked in R & D for 35 years or so as a Metallurgist - Development Engineer in the Copper industry and logic was one approach that was applied - not always successfully :)

    not with jv16, surely?

    Sorry, no further ideas at present.

    This will be another of these unresolved mystery threads.

    The problem went away. Something I touched somewhere cleansed out some info in some place and the laptop came up in native resolution.

    Go figure.

    :eek::confused:
