Windows Explorer file highlighting TOO light to see

When I open Windows Explorer and select a file in the right pane I can BARELY see the 2 highlight lines above and below the file name that has been selected (very light blue on white). I can barely tell which files are highlighted/selected. On my XP machine the folder that is highlighted is bolded (white on black) so it's easy to see what has been selected. Any way to change this in Vista?

You can change contrast schemes in Control Panel -> Ease of Access Center -> Set Up High contrast -> Choose a high contrast colour scheme.

You can set it to Windows Standard or Windows Classic for the old feel. You can even set it to black/white schemes.

Setting to Windows Standard made a more distinctive highlighting for me.

Hmm.. ok going to the high contrast themes did work, but I do like the look of Windows Aero, all except for the highlighting being too light. I was hoping there was a way to just change that setting. Thanks for the info.

My System

Personally I prefer to use the checkbox selection feature...it's a much more definitive way to select files/folders and easy to see. To enable it, open an Explorer window>Organize>Folder and Search Options>View tab>Use check boxes to select items>OK.
