File Path Not Found

I support an accounting software package.

I have a client where I need to edit one of our files. Its called PVConfig.ini

We drill down to the file via Win Explorer and open the file and edit the two digits inside the file. When we go to save it, we get a "file path not found" error.....

The user is an administrator of the machine. I can do it fine on both of my Vista machines....Xp users don't have issues either.

Any thoughts?

Steve

Have you tried 'Save as' with the same file name?

(you'd think I'd know to post all info)

Save as resulted in the same error.
Sent her a copy of my file...Got pretty much the same error...

One thing I haven't seen before in Vista, after sending her my file, I now see a "compatibility" button in Explorer's tool bar. When I click on it, it shows the file I sent.

Also, the properties of her file doesn't show the "version" tab that searchs from other versions.

To add to the frustration, I was doing all of this via a VNC connection. She's in one of the States that was hit by the tornados the other day. Her internet connection is slower then slow.

Steve

Can't be of much help as I only occasionally use Vista.

That's not far from being a guess, but...
Do you have the UAC on? It doesn't seem to like some progs and it blocks them without even asking you if it's okay.
For example, if you are using QIP ICQ messenger, enabled UAC will quietly cut off its file receiving service. You watch the progress bar fill, then try to open the file and get that "File not found" message.
