I just recently purchased the Retail version of Vista Ultimate and have run into a problem when trying to do a clean install..

When booting from the DVD it gets just past the screen with the green bar that has MicroSoft Corporation below it.

The very next screen is Multi-colored and should be (I believe) the screen where it asks which version I am installing. I'm not sure about what is on that screen exactly, because I cannot see anything. Other than the colorful background, there is nothing, but it is the very first screen after the one with the "green bar ".

Does anyone have any idea why this happening?

The system I am installing too, more then meets the requirements for Vista, but I am wondering if it could have anything to do with fact that it is being installed from a LG CD\DVD drive.

I doubt that it's anything to do with the drives being LG - both my rigs have LG drives and I didn't have any problems installing Vista.

It's a baffling problem though  Try testing the RAM, you can run either or both of these from a floppy, without needing to boot into Windows:

    Memtest86

    Windows Memory Diagnostic

I will try both of the programs you mentioned here and see what happens.

(Note: The only reason I was wondering about the LG CD\DVD drive was because I read somewhere that some people had trouble with LG drives when it came to Vista. If I remember correctly, it said something like, LG drives were not supported. But I have no idea what magazine or website I saw it on.)
