Not wanting to transfer all my old junk from my XP computer to the new Vista computer, I did not do a USB cable transfer of all old files and settings. I am only doing a manual transfer of things that I really want. The old computer is still being used so I am not erasing anything. I have a problem in trying to install a copy of Quickbooks Basic 2004 into the new computer. I use it every day and when trying to install it from the CD I get an error message saying "Setup cannot find C:\windows\command.com. setup cannot continue ". Is there a workaround to get it to install? Would a USB cable transfer of everything on the old computer get Quickbooks into the Vista computer? Thanks for your help, Jack

No - when programs are installed many files are installed within the OS folders in addition to those you see in Program Files. A straight copy will get you nowhere.

Have you checked that QuickBooks 2004 is compatible with Vista? My guess is that it is not.

    I just checked ....

Found out I can't do it. I downloaded Microsoft Office Accounting express 2007. It transfered my customer list and totals from my accounts but I have to manually rebuild all my transaction files (checks, petty cash, credit card files, taxes and invoices) from the beginning of the year. Thankfully it's only June and not December. Thanks, Jack
