    Nope!
    It'd better run a regscan prog like DTweak, CCleaner or RegSupreme. Might be some invalid or null registry entry tampering with the CP shell. I don't know. . .:confused:

    Hi,
    Since Windows Vista is relatively still new to alot of us, many are still trying to figure out these things and I am one of them...In regards to yours, I can only suggest an idea to see if that is or is not what's happening...Last night I tried to gain access to the "run command and control panel" on a computer that has Windows Vista and was greeted with blank screens...So if you would please scope out the following steps and see if it helps:

    (1) Right click the start menu and click on properties.
    (2) Click the start menu tab, then customize button.
    (3) Click advanced tab.
    (4) Look for control panel and put a check mark next to it, click ok.
    (5) Click your way out and try accessing the control panel again.
    Note: Please keep in mind that I am trying to recall these steps from memory so please allow for a mis-step if there should be any.

    You can also try looking into this, more info i came across relating to what appears to be a similiar situation to yours;
    The reason for this is not a virus or other malicious problem (although it never hurts to check!) but often results from an erroneous resetting of the Global Policies for the machine. Global Policies control (among many other things) the availability of certain icons from the Control Panel, and if reset or set incorrectly they can suddenly render the whole Control Panel inoperative.

    To fix the problem, log in as Administrator, go to Start/Run and type GPEDIT.MSC to launch the Global Policy Editor. Open the path User Configuration / Administrative Templates / Control Panel from the tree diagram in the left-hand side of the Policy Editor. On the right-hand pane, double-click "Hide specified control panel applets" and select Disabled. To be doubly safe, double-click "Disable Control Panel" and select Disabled, and do the same for "Show only specified control panel applets. "

    Note that if you want to hide or reveal Control Panel applets through this mechanism, you can of course do so as well. If you select Enabled from "Hide specified Control Panel Applets" and then click Show | Add, you can type in the name of the .CPL file to hide (with or without the .CPL extension).

    Good luck...Keep us posted.
