I was wondering... I am currently running of Windows XP SP2 Professional and was wondering, should i upgrade. (My terms of upgrade is a clean install)
My Current System Has
Intel Celeron 1.8 GHz
512 MB Ram (Programs like SiSandra say this is the max...) My Motherboard is a Imperial-GLVE
ATi Radeon 9250 PCI 256 MB Graphic Card (using DVI // 1440x900 Res)
I do have a DVD Burner/Reader.
2 80 GB Drives (Main Drive: Western Digital // Secondary: Seagate)
If theres any more info needed, i'll be glad to give it....
My plan is to buy the Windows Vista Ultimate... Or something with Windows Media Center that is in my price range... so i can use it with my Xbox 360.
I heard stuff about program compatibles... So i run

AOL Messenger 6.0 (or is it 6.1?? i dunno most recent)
Gadu-Gadu
Windows Live Messenger (i already know that works..)
iTunes (recent) with my iPod

So would it be a good idea to do it? If i were to, i would do a clean install also.

NO, my system is a sempron 3000+ with a gig of ram and a radeon x1300 512mb video card. At times the memory usage is scary even with the one gig of ram. I would recommend no less than two gigs of ram for Vista to run properly. Home premium comes with media center, and it's a great entry level edition. It has all the things you would want or need in an os, and you can upgrade to ultimate whenever you want for $160 bucks. Send me the exact specs on your computer right down to the type of ram it uses and I'll make an assessment to see if it can be upgraded to run Vista. I need bus type (agp, pci, pci express), ram type (sdram, DDR, rambus), approx age of mother board, processer type and speed.

Vista loves to max our hardware; Some experienced tweakers get it to run Ok on 512MB of RAM and older video card, but you ought to wait for Vista until you upgrade your computer.
Use the Windows Upgrade Adviser on your current system. But remember that is the minimum needed and MS recommends at least 1GB of RAM for Vista, plus newer generations of vid cards, fast bus mobos, etc..

That's what i was thinking but wanted a second opinion. When i get a new PC might be a long while... i tried getting a job but ya lol
If i get vista i want to get either Ultimate or Home Premium. I want Media Center but i also might want remote desktoping server and not just the client.
Also i am a Grand Prix man.

Those are good Vista choices, (i'd get Ultimate or Business) and a smart move to wait until ya' get a beefier rig.
The Vista question didn't make anyone mad, and 'search' functions always leave something to be desired.
Personally, I've re-decided to keep Win XP SP2 as long it is functioning because it does what I need. I don't need the DX10 that only comes on Vista, though Gamerz will want it when compatible games are marketed. Extended support for XP lasts till 2014.
I'd stay away from the business version unless you want to be able to watch movies or play mp3s. It comes with no codecs or players for media. Home premium is the best for home users, and if you must have all the nifty features go for ultimate.
