Multiple Network Connections - Windows Server 2003

Hi Guys,

I'm setting up a server at the office. In total there are around 7 pc's all running xp or Vista. I just want the server to manage our test web server and to store files.

We've got quite an old Netgear router which i would like to connect straight to the server, then using another network card connect the server to the rest of the network. Hopefully this way I can just make the network slightly more secure?

It's currently set up like this, the server has 2 bridged network connections... but I'm just wandering if this is actually the best way of douing it?

Hopefully someone can understand what i'm trying to achieve!!

Thanks

If you are bridging the server connections then you are not providing any more security to your network by making them connect through the server.

Personally I would recommend that you investing in a small hardware firewall and use that to secure your internet connection. Then use only one network connection on the server.
