installing server 2008 and server 2003
greetings installing server 2003.


but i have a dimension 3000,. am i gonna be able to install the drivers for the hardware.


plus are there any resitrictions like the old school nt stuff like direct x and stuff like that. basically just gonna run dual boots for my network certification?

Why not just install it inside vmware .. then you will have no driver issues?

Windows PE is not an OS, it's a tool that is used to write programs that take advantage of the PE.

You need server 2003 R2 SP2 or Server 2008 SP1 ... both are free to try on MS website for a 120 day trial.

so why in the world would i want to use windows pe? i would rather have multiple operating systems on my computer. or use virtual pc to run the operating systems? but i dont know how proficient virtual pc is. i just want something cool to use because working on network certification and i have untill june before my vouchers expire.

You have completly misunderstood what Win PE is.

Windows PE is a tool that devs can us to make their own lite windows based OS for their products. For example Storagecraft uses it as their recovery envieorment for backing up and restoring images. Win PE is great!

It is not ment for you to use as an OS, like i said its a tool.

For example, a windows 2008 install CD is a WinPE based installer. when you bootup and can start chosing options for how you want to intall windows you are using Win PE.

Virtual PC or Vmware is a hyperviser that lets you install OSes on top of it. So for example, my ESX server has 5 copies of windows 2003 on it.

I like Vmware better, but its also made to be a enterprise product. Virtual PC is ok, but has alot of catching up to do to be compared to Vmware.

well i want something i can use to study. so if the mcitp book says do this on a certain os and then do this on another i wanna be able to do those things in realtime. i dont know why i even bother though i cant remember nothing. i mean nothing. guess keeps buzzing through vouchers untill i get it right.
