This is a two part question. I am trying to use RoboCopy GUI to accomplish two tasks. I am having a hard time figuring out how to do both.
Task #1:
A few months back I replaced my W2K file server with a new server running 2003 SBS. When it came time to moving 40GB of files over, I simply copied and pasted them. The problem is that I lost all of the date stamps on my file folders. The individual files have the correct dates, but all the folders show the same date in May 2008 when I made the move.
I still have my old file server with the correct time stamp on the folders. I have heard that RoboCopy GUI could make the folders have the correct date. I just don't know how to set it up for this.
Task #2
I also want to use RoboCopy GUI (or some other file copy utility) as my primary backup software for the server. I like my backup copies to be stored in their original format, as opposed to a proprietary format. I am not sure how to set this up. There is two parts to this. Setting up the script to do a full backup of all the files. Then setting up a schedule where any files that have changed are backed up. Can anyone walk me through what settings I need to use? I will be copying about 120GB on a "full backup" to Dell RD1000 removable hard drives.
Thanks!!
