Things work fine (so far) no issues - yet. The computer that I get this message from did not want to join my domain - i had to try several different routes to get it to associate with the server properly, but it did. since then, I have these error messages in my event logs- it would be nice to clean them out. The event ID is 8003, message as follows; "the master browser has received a server announcement from the computer sunserra-6 that it is the master browser for the domain on transport NetBT_Tcip_{19A265B5-CCAO-4BA. the master browser is stopping or an election is being forced. "

Also concerning this computer (sunserra-6) are other event IDs, such as 5722, netlogon failed to authenticate; Event ID 5805, netlogon failed to authenticate access denied.

What exactly does this mean? Is this computer not recognized correctly on my network?

My server is using MSServer 2003

    Which is the server?

These errors are harmless and common and probably the most prevailant of all Events.

The server should in most cases be the Master browser.

You can turn off "Computer Browser" in services on the worstations if the server is the master browser.

As for the logon erreors make sure that Netlogon is starting in Services.

The server name is Sunserver, the workstation sunserra-6 is the latest machine to be introduced to the network. I will check out your suggestions, thank you.

    Thanks for getting back.

Post the results so others with this problem can be helped.

Note: On the workstation that I told you to check netlogon look closely, if it is set to start automatically, is it actually starting?

OK, I disabled the master browser service, and netlogon is set to run. i went to start/run/msconfig to accomplish this.

query; how do i check if netlogon is actually running? i went to task manager via ctrl+alt+del, went to processes tab, and scrolled the image names, finding winlogon.exe but no other logon process. I would assume i want to find netlogon here, right?

Msconfig is not the way to do this. I would reverse it now.

Are you not familiar with Windows services?

    then

    start run servies.msc

    Look thru the list

Find "Computer Browser" set it to "Disabled" and stop it if started.

Then find "Netlogon" (only needed for Domain logon) set it to Start Automatically then click start.

Certain things can interfere with it starting even if it is set to Automatic, so if it is not started after a reboot that is another issue.

Clear the Event logs, reboot and if logon errors exist post exact back to here.

Yes, that was it. Thank you, I am unfamiliar with the services.msc command; that is most helpful.
