exchange 2003 mailbox rights

Greetings,

I have inherited this system and am trying to change mailbbox rights because they seem to be wide open (many users can view many users mailboxes) when I try to remove a group i get the "can not becuase .... inherited permissins, turn off inherited permissions and try to remove the object again"

I can't find where to turn this off at, any help would be great.

Michael
