I have been in the process of migrating our users to new domains, now that i have completed this I still have the old left over domains in network places, is there a way to remove these? i thought they would just automatically be removed when I ran dcpromo on the old DC's but alas they remain...

    any suggestions??

WINS and DNS records don't instantly vanish.

WINS records by default will stick around for about 6 days unless you remove them.

DNS - you may need to scavenge the database.

    Domain Controller(s) - 2000 or 2003?

Also, if you open a cmd window and do
net view /DOMAIN:domain-name using the name of one of your old domains, do you see any devices listed as part of that domain?

Could be as little as one machine hiding somewhere with that domain listed as it's workgroup to make that entry stay visible.

They are 2003, and no when i type the command it comes up with "The list of servers for this workgorup is not currently available "

Im sure that there is nothing else connecting to the old domains, they were only set up for a test and it was just one workstation connecting to them, which is now back on the regular domain.
