I recently found an old PIII 933 with Windows ME on it. I tried powering it up but it would not recognize the keyboard. If the keyboard was installed in the PS/2 port the computer would pop up an error message that said something like error 301 keyboard not found. If I use the USB connection the computer starts, but only in safe mode and the keyboard still does not work. The mouse works but there is nothing on the screen that I can click on, all that is there is a background picture with the words safemode in each corner. This is a brand new keyboard, but I haven't tried it in another computer to see if it is working or not. I tried pluging the keyboard into the mouse PS/2 port but got the same error message. Any ideas?
Thanks in advance

How much memory do you have ? running 933mhz you should be able to install XP if you like..But you will need at least 256 mb ram.. To try and fix WinMe,you might try and update the keyboard drivers..Do you have access to the
internet ?
Thank you for replying. You probably won't believe this, but the keyboard that I bought which said it would work with all windows products was the problem. I grabbed an old keyboard from work plugged it into the PS/2 port turned the computer on and it works like a charm. Sorry to have bothered you over what appears to be such a stupid little error.
