No sound from speakers

I had to move my pc yesterday and when I set it up and booted up, I had no sound coming from my speakers. I have CD player sound, but none on anything else.

Checked my sound card to see if it had come unseated. Its OK.

Any ideas??????????

Hi,
It is strange that audio CDs work, but other types don't. If the CD player is running the CDs, it may be the media player. Do you have another audio player such as Winamp to try?

You have taken out the drivers and reinstalled them. Try rerunning the driver installation program and looking for the latest drivers at the manufacturer's website.

Check the volume controls under Volume Controls in the Help menu.

Next I would take the card out and put it into a different PCI slot. Put it into one of the last slots (near the edge of the motherboard). Windows should automatically reinstall the drivers on restart.

There is quite a long list of tests in the Help menu under "Soundcard -> Troubleshooter" go through those.

Oh, this is fun..........Help section for sound troubleshooter shows up blank!!!!!!!!

Will try your suggestion on switching slots. Thanks!

What I meant by audio CD's work...Only by plugging this head set directly into the CDROM. Not into the speakers.
