Win 95A Installation ; DLL errors

I've installed Windows 98 and Windows 95B before without problems. This time I'm installing Windows 95A from a Microsoft Windows 95 CD I hadn't tried before. I FDISK'd and partioned as usual and started from a clean hard drive. The program installs and everything seems ok until I go to try to install AOL or Juno. I get a message about missing DLL files. I find the file on another computer or in a web search and drop it into System. Then I get another message saying that file is linked to "missing export" and then it gives me another file name. That file is already showing in System. What's going on? Could it be a faulty disk or a hardware problem on my computer? I've tried dumping the whole mess and reinstalling from C: FORMAT but nothing changes. I can't get on the internet with it until I can hook up to an ISP. Does anybody have any ideas?

My System

I could be wrong but it sounds to me as though it's a file version problem. It finds the file in the system folder but it's not the correct version and then gives you the error message. Anytime in the past when I got the linked to missing export error it was due to the fact that I had the wrong version of the file. What's the name of the file you put in the system folder and what's the name of the file it's looking for after that?

Hi Roland:

In your CONTROL PANEL,
(1) Check the MODEM and see if shows any modems installed.
(2) Check the NETWORK, and see if it shows TCP/IP installed.

From your START MENU,
Programs -> Accessories -> Communications -> Dial-Up Networking
IS there a DIAL-UP NETWORKING aplet shown?

If the above look OK, have you tried connecting through a dial-up ISP that allows DUN connections WITHOUT any of that AOL/JUNO/NETZERO proprietary software?

Jerry
