Question Temporary Internet Files x 2 ??

Hi,

On my Left hand tree on my C drive under WIndows I have the usual folder called 'Temporary Internet Files' - so far so good !

However within this folder I have another folder called (you guessed it) 'Temporary Internet Files' which then opens into 'content'.

I dont know why i've 2 folders with the same name - Is there a registry setting I can tweak to get rid of the extra folder ?? The erroneous one wont delete from the desktop.

Thanks guys,

Mick

Boot from a Floppy or to DOS.
Type
attrib -s -h - r C:\Windows\Tempor~1\Tempor~1\
deltree /Y C:\Windows\Tempor~1\Tempor~1\
Press CTRL/ALT/DEL keys together to get back to Windows
- if you booted from a floppy, remove it before the CTRL/DEL/ALT
regards

I'm not sure what you mean ,you say theres a temporary internet folder and within it is another then within it is the content.IE5 ?
But then you say
"The erroneous one wont delete from the desktop"
Hi
merlin suggestion is great But to het the path correct>

Fallow this article will straighten things out, disregard the symtoms.
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=301057
All you do is first with all IE's ,OE's closed ---is first from control panel IE options delete files and offline content(clear the cache)
then create a folder on the desktop "any-name" go back to IE options hit the settings button on the first page then move folder
move it to the folder you just created, You will be prompted to reboot, afterwords with an explorer go into the windows directory
and if there is still a temporary Internet folder delete it!
then control panel IE options again and move the TIF back to the windows directory , after restart delete the extra folder on the desktop we created before.

the article is a little strange because I don't have to create an extra folder nor see if theres still one within windows after the first step. But this is a windows me system .
