Having solved my 'Auto window appearance' problem on these pages, I would now like to seek advise on a new problem.
I unchecked a number of applications in msconfig to solve the last problem, including "EnsoniqMixer" which has an icon in the sys tray for adjusting volume etc. When ever I restart my PC this application somehow restarts itself. In the msconfig I get a new entry for this app. with a 'check' in the tick box, and the entry I unchecked is still there unchecked? Two entry's now?
I have the "StartUp Monitor" app. which is supposed to disable app's and that wont work either. On restart the StartUp Monitor appears with a check in the box, despite my repeated unchecking of it.
I am trying to minimise the running applications, hopefully so that my foreign currency trading study's with java charts, will run a bit more smoothly.
My PC is a hybrid P2, 350Mhz, 384 Mb RAM, OS W98 1st ed fully updated, recently formatted 6Gb C drive, IE 6, OE 6, spare 2.6Gb D drive for back ups mainly.
Thanks for any/all advise in advance.

You cant just go into msconfig and uncheck things ,, first disable within the programs if they allow then check the startup folder
move it if there, I found this at pacs portal

EnsoniqMixer starter.exe Puts the Ensoniq mixer in system tray. From Ensoniq Technologies "Our mixer is a critical part of the soundcard as it fixes sound problems and replaces the MS mixer which can no longer be used". If you find you don't need it - try one of the solutions on this special page. Similar to Creative PCI Audio Configuration Utility

I would just leave it unless you are comfortable backing up and editing the registry
I disabled EnsoniqMixer a long time ago since my pc has no speakers. I do recall it was a chore figuring out what to do to keep it from starting, though I'm sorry to say I can't remember what I did. I don't think it took a registry edit. I believe I went to Control Panel>System>Device Manager and disabled the audio driver there. That's pretty easy to do (and undo if you want sound later).
Uninstall Ensoniq completely. Then use the CD that came w/ the sound card to just install the drivers and not gthe xtra bundled stuff that comes with it. Do youn ever use the mixer? I doubt it. Probably only the volume controls, balance and bass/treble settings.
