    :confused:
    I have windows ME and recently when I boot up the a drive is searched and I don't know how to stop it. I am assuming that a program was installed by me or my wife that calls for this function.
    Since it didn't do it before, I would like it to stop.
    If anyone knows how to help please email me at:
    smatejov@san.rr.com

    I'll be glad you did. :) :p :cool:

    SMATEJOV:

    Welcome to the boards. Have you tried the following;

    Right-click My Computer

    Click the Properties button, and then click the Performance tab.

    Click the File System button and then click the Floppy Disk tab.

    Clear the option to Search for new floppy disk drives each time your computer starts.

    It's Baaaaccckkk

    I checked and the box is not filled in, but the A-drive is still being accessed.
    Is there some other place I need to look? Perhaps there is a short program in some other piece of software that is calling this function???

    :eek: :confused:

    Hope someone can help me.
    Thanks
    Stephen

    Check in the documents menu in your start menu for a shortcut that points to a file on the a: drive. Also, make sure there's no shortcuts on your desktop that reference the a: drive.
