installing Win95 on FAT 32 HD

I'm putting together a new system. The only load-from-DOS Win disk I have is Win95. Can I install this on a FAT-32 formatted HD? I tried it once and couldn't get Win95 to run.

If I can get 95 loaded, I will upgrade it to 98se.

Thanks and happy new year!

You'll need Win95b (OSR2) since the original Win95 can't be used on FAT32 partitions.

You do not need to have 95 installed to install SE

If you have either the full or UPGRADE CD for SE. Just need the 95 CD for proof of ownership of a previous version of Windows. And a floppy that will give you access to the CDROM.

If you have the UPDATE version of SE then you will need to install Win98 FE first. I do not think the UPDATE will go over 95.

But the UPGRADE will.
