After reading a lot on how to do this, I have become totally confused. I have enough experience to get into the registry but worry that I'll not do it right. The problem: a CD-R disc made on a win7 machine, my work computer, will not play on my home 8.1 as it is "write protected," but will on another win7 computer. Reading up, I find that I do not have any "StorageDevicePolicies" in either the Local or Current user registry, such key to be changed to allow reading of the disc. I am fairly stumped on this. Hope the solution is fairly easy.

Wow, Evan. PROBLM SOLVED (not sure where to put this). That did the trick. Thanks for the quick reply, and the result. More people should use this site; whenever I have written, I get a quick answer and it works. Thanks again.
