In XP I used to be able to open a photo's properties and there was an area I could enter details like location, names, etc. Now in Windows 8 I open properties and find a wealth of technical detail for the photo but nowhere I can find to make notes. Has this ability been lost or is there another way to do this?

    Yes .....

In File Explorer open a folder containing images.

Click on the View tab at the top of the window and select Details Pane (screenshot)

In the Details pane there is a field for 'Add comments' - click on it to open a text window and type away!

    Solved

Thanks, Pete. I had seen that Comments area but when I had clicked on it it just went blue but no area came up to type in. Thanks to your reply I just typed anyway and voila, a box appears with my comments as I type them in. So simple once you know it, but not very intuitive if you do not.
