Windows 8 includes an automatic maintenance routine designed to run in the background with limited user interaction and minimal impact to performance and energy efficiency. If you want to disable the automatic maintenance (for example if you are running Windows 8 in a virtual environment) you'll have to change some file permissions to be able to do so successfully.

    Can not disable automatic maintenance

Followed the instructions from your post without any problem but I could not disable as per the last step.

    disable automatic maintenance

I have enabled the status column but could not locate the Last time run, trigger or next time run columns to check.
Right clicking produces the "open with" menu with other options.
At this point I am unable to go any further with the instructions provided, I suspect you are using the Professional version of W8, and my version will not respond accordingly.

Works fine on Windows 8 "Standard ".

I suspect you are right-clicking the Maintenance Configurator FILE in \Windows\System32\Tasks\Microsoft\Windows\TaskScheduler, not the task as I suggest:
