Windows Failed to Configure Updates

Hi all,

Running into quite an annoying issue.. Windows update is constantly failing, and when it reverts the changes, it takes literally about a half an hour to do so. This happens every time Windows 8 tries to update.

I have restarted my computer, ran the Windows Update troubleshooter which has found issues and fixed them, yet the problem still continues.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Kenny

I should also add, the this is a fairly fresh installation of Windows 8 Pro 64 bit. All hardware drivers are installed and functioning properly.

Hi Kenny. The first thing I would do is to perform a clean boot in Windows 8 to make sure that no other programs are interfering with Windows Update. Take a look here, How to perform a clean boot to troubleshoot a problem in Windows 8, Windows 7, or Windows Vista.

If performing a clean boot does not solve the problem then follow the instructions to reset the Windows Update components, How to reset Windows Update components.

Please post the last 70-100 lines of your WindowsUpdate.log.

Press your Windows key + R and type %windir%\WindowsUpdate.log in the Open box, then press OK.
