How can I place a My Computer Icon on a Win 8 Pro Desktop. Not a shortcut but a fully functioning Icon that will allow me to both left AND right click and have a complete set of choices the same as Win 7 and all the older Win OS?

Hi, I'm not familiar with W8, but in Vista/W7 click on Start button > Right click on Computer > place on Desktop > check > close. Neil.

Not exactly My Computer but you can do this. Right click on the desktop. Select personalise. Top left under Control Panel Home, select Change Desktop Icons. There you can select some Desktop Icons

I don't think that my question has been understood. First of all there is no start button in Win 8. Secondly changing an icon to look like a computer that in fact is not MY Computer will not allow functionality as My computer. The best workaround I could come up with is to pin the Control Panel to the Taskbar and right click on it. This gives you most of the choices that a right click on for example Win 7 desktop My Computer will show. However, it will not allow the Left Click function which shows ALL the drives on the computer at once. This is a function I use frequently to see if external USB or Harddrives etc. are recognised and allow me to have direct access to them...Any ideas?

Thanks! I saw that customization before but I made the wrong assumption that it would only change the appearance of another icon. At least now my desktop looks normal!
